The business was formed as a sole trader under the name of Alan Leighton Plumbing in 1981. During the first six months the business developed a strong and growing customer base made up of private clients and a local housing authority.

This early success allowed David Leighton, also a time served plumber to join me. We were soon working for local builders on small contracts, and as our reputation and work load grew we were successful in employing two first class tradesmen, followed by two others, all of whom I had previously worked alongside, and valued their skills. We had now formed the backbone of the company, and it was at this point during 1985 we decided to incorporate, becoming Alan Leighton Hull Ltd.

Using this to build upon we have gone on to employ up to 14 men. We have worked in all areas of the Plumbing and Heating industry, domestic and commercial. In 1990 my son Mike joined the company as an apprentice, carrying on the family tradition. He now controls the technical side of the business, heating repairs and maintenance and is pivotal in developing new heating projects, including solar hot water systems and under floor heating. Whereas I now deal solely with the accounting side of the business. David carries out other office duties, with John Potter controlling works.

Our continuous training policy ensures that everyone keeps pace with our ever-changing industry. By selected training we are looking towards growth in specialised areas. Ours is a family run business whose strength is in its highly trained and skilled workforce and its dedication to delivering a quality service to our customers.
